Our Digital Storytelling Project: PSA on Antibiotic Use

For our Digital Storytelling project, we created a short PSA about conscious antibiotic use. We chose this topic because we realized that many people use antibiotics without really knowing when they are necessary, and this can lead to serious problems.

At the beginning, we brainstormed a few ideas, but this topic stood out since it is both common and important. After deciding, we did some research to understand what antibiotic resistance is and why it matters. This step helped us feel more confident about what we were saying in our video.

Then we moved on to writing the script. We tried to keep it short, clear, and easy to understand. Since PSAs are very short, it was actually a bit challenging to decide what to include and what to leave out. We focused on explaining the problem, giving a few simple examples, and ending with a clear message about what people should do.

Instead of filming ourselves, we decided to create the video using Canva slides. We used simple visuals, icons, and short phrases to support what was being said. For example, we added warning symbols and keywords like “antibiotic resistance” to make the message more noticeable. Matching the visuals with the script took some time, but it made the final video more effective.

While working on this project, I realized that even a short video requires a lot of planning. It also showed me how useful digital tools can be in teaching. As a future language teacher, I think I can use similar tools to make lessons more engaging and easier to understand for students.

Overall, this project was both challenging and enjoyable. It helped me think more carefully about how to present information clearly and how to connect with an audience in a limited time.
